Description

LBN438 – sometimes called the Lizard Pillar, is catalogued in Lynds’ Catalogue of Bright Nebula as entry 438, but it is quite dim with a surface brightness only 23.  There are more LBNs in this image including 435 and 440, and a few distant galaxies to find.

This image was captured on a couple clear nights with 2 scopes, and proved difficult to process.  More data would probably benefit this image, but it is still a very unique target that is more often found combined with Sh2-126 (The Great Lacerta Nebula) than on its own.  There is a LRGB version included with the HaLRGB final.

*The info provided above has been put together from very little info I could find on this site about this area from more knowledgeable members*
